One of the key reasons I got started writing this blog is that I wanted to learn more about the online community. My background is information technology, but most of my career has been spent developing back office business applications, rather than developing consumer-facing web pages.
So, when I recently experienced a perfect storm of writer's block and personal/work obligations, in mid-November I made the conscious decision to abstain from writing any posts here at Right Up Your Alley until December. My last post, Mayor verbose on China, but human rights verboten, appeared was published October 31. The purpose behind this decision was to observe what impact the absence of new material would have upon traffic to www.RightUpYourAlley.ca.
I am sure that some of you could have told me what outcome to expect back in the middle of November, but nevertheless I am a little surprised and my nose is a little out of joint this morning to discover that traffic has actually increased since I stopped posting new material!
To my new readers, welcome.
In recent years I have learned to welcome a little more humility into my life. I am now prepared to fully embrace that experience, and so today I recommit myself to more frequent posts with the expectation that doing so will likely reverse the readership trend and drive my numbers through the floor! Those of you who can stomach this drivel are welcome to subscribe to email updates at right.
